When you move into a new house, it can be hard to feel at home. But I’m here to help! Here are some tips for getting your new place feeling like home.
Find ways to incorporate your personality
Do you love bright colors? Make sure they're represented in your decorating scheme. Love the outdoors? Decorate with nature-inspired elements. You get the idea—make sure the things that matter to you are represented throughout the house.
Make it personal
The more personal touches you add, the more comfortable it will feel when you walk through those front doors. Perhaps you want a painting of your favorite scene from childhood or a picture of an old friend or relative—put them up!
You don't have to do everything at once!
Just because it's been six months since you moved in doesn't mean there's anything wrong with a little clutter still lying around—it just means it might be time for a garage sale.
Curb appeal
Get rid of stuff. Clean up any clutter that's left behind and make sure everything is organized and easy to find. Inside and outside!
Invite the light
Make sure all of your rooms are well-lit. This will make the space feel bigger and more open.
Small updates make a BIG difference Update your bathroom with new fixtures and accessories (but don't go overboard). This will give buyers something new to look at while they're thinking about buying your house!
Fresh Paint
Paint everything with neutral colors (white, grey, beige). This will make the rooms feel larger than they actually are.
Stage!
Help prospective buyers imagine themselves in the space with strategic furniture placement and meaningful finishing touches to make them feel like they could just move right in!
